PREPARING A ROUTINE – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

Before starting anything you must have a detailed plan of the things that you intend to do. Academics require being consciously acting on your goal. Anyone who is aiming to excel in academics ought to have a routine which will act as the primary step towards preparation. If you polled successful and productive people from all walks of life and sectors, you’d discover that different ways work for different people. Sylvia Plath wanted to get up at 4 a.m Leo Tolstoy loved to get up at 9.00 a.m.

Former US President Barack Obama loves to exercise first thing in the morning, but Steve Jobs, the late American information technology entrepreneur and innovator, focuses on establishing the day’s main objective. Setting up a schedule, from wake-up to bedtime, allows you to form habits that will become habitual with time.

It might sound absurd but routine is essential in every way of life be it academics or any professional life. Students who are working constantly for any kind of examination should know which areas should be given what proportion of time based on which he/she starts preparing. This can be done when one has a routine prepared. It is very obvious to decide which direction to go before walking in any direction. Having no plan can be dangerous as that will fail to encourage you to keep working. Henceforth to avoid all odd situations it is wiser to have a routine made first. Following the routine is a whole different thing and comes later.

STAYING ON ROUTINE – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

Focus, clarity, and dedication are needed to complete each minor job on your to-do list. When you’re able to do this, it’ll be a breeze. You arrange your day by: identifying the most critical acts; creating a mental image of yourself achieving the goal; eliminating non-essential activities; and deciding on an acceptable reward. – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

Besides, sticking to routine requires patience and consistency. You may not be able to ace the task of being up-to-date with the routine but eventually with practice you gain efficacy. It only requires a “never giving up” attitude to make someone stick to their routine. Once you get used to acting according to the tasks mentioned in routine, you’ll hardly feel like acting otherwise.

Also determine your long term , weekly, and daily priorities. This understanding will assist you in determining which chores must be completed. – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

Having too many high priorities, on the other hand, could be detrimental.  For a college student,  attending lectures, tutorials, and laboratories, as well as completing assignment deadlines, are top priorities; nevertheless, make time for social and recreational activities to balance these responsibilities.

READING STRATEGIES – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

Studying can be troublesome especially when one doesn’t know reading workload strategies. Piles of texts may make anyone nervous and in fact it is obvious to feel demotivated. However, reading can get easier when divided into groups based on a scale of importance. To make it sound simpler, if you are reading Marx’s “Historical materialism”, what you can do is divide his stages of human society, his views on the capitalist society(bourgeois hegemony), his 3 principles of social change. – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

Once you divide any topic, you can easily allot time for each group. This will not only make your reading process easier but also improve in depth analysis of every topic read.  That in turn will enable you to perform well academically and also will enhance your knowledge. Although, if someone’s a beginner he may reach his/her teacher for guidance in this regard. Eventually with practice one can easily be able to master the art of effective and intelligent reading.
