5/5 - (25 votes)

Jagdeep Dhankhar, the present governor of West Bengal, was announced as the vice presidential candidate by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Saturday.

The decision was made at a meeting of the BJP’s parliamentary board, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, J.P. Nadda, and other top party officials.

Nadda referred to Dhankhar as the “kisan putra” (son of a farmer) who hails from a lowly agrarian background when making the announcement on Saturday night. Dhankhar, according to Nadda, was a “people’s governor” with extensive executive experience.

The BJP Parliamentary Board has agreed to nominate West Bengal Governor and Kisan Putra Jagdeep Dhankhar as the BJP and NDA’s vice-presidential candidate, Nadda said. The BJP Parliamentary Board has decided to do this, he continued, following a lengthy discussion and evaluation of all the names.

For his humanity, Kisaan Putra Jagdeep Dhankhar ji is well-known. He brings a remarkable legal, legislative, and gubernatorial career with him. He has always advocated for the rights of farmers, young people, women, and others who are marginalised. I’m happy he’ll be our vice presidential candidate, PM Modi Tweeted.

Since his appointment as West Bengal’s governor in July 2019, he and the state’s administration led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have had a tense working relationship. Disputes between Dhankhar and Banerjee have involved a variety of topics, with the West Bengal chief minister even labeling Dhankhar a “corrupt man.”

The West Bengal chief minister has accused Dhankhar of engaging in political stunts, while Dhankhar has accused Banerjee of failing to keep him informed about numerous matters.
